WALK FOR MIDWIVES ILLINOIS 2010

What is it?

The first annual Walk for Midwives Illinois 2010 is a 5k fundraiser to raise funds and awareness of the state of Midwifery in Illinois.

The Walk is sponsored by the Illinois Council of Certified Professional Midwives (ICCPM).  All proceeds will be donated to the Coalition for Illinois Midwifery (www.illinoismidwifery.org) to support the fight for the licensure of Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) in Illinois.

How much does it cost?

The registration for walkers is only $25.00 (minus the on-line processing fee of $1.61)!  Because this is a fundraiser, we encourage all walkers to raise $100.

Does raising $100 seem hard? Not at all!  Tell 10 friends that you support licensure of CPMs in Illinois and ask each of them to donate $10.  Easy!  Check out our fundraising incentives for a little motivation.

Even if you are unable to walk with us on May 16th, please register anyway as a "Virtual Walker" and still be eligible for our fundraising incentives.

Interested in donating? Please send all donations via paypal to walkformidwivesillinois2010.gmail.com.

Why is this important?

The Coalition for Illinois Midwifery seeks to ensure the availability of safe, licensed direct-entry midwifery services for families in the state of Illinois. We support the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential as a basis for licensure. Through partnerships, collaboration, public education, and legislative and judicial actions that promote the Midwives Model of Care, we support the rights of Illinois families to access this evidence-based maternity care option.

Please browse our website for information and resources about midwifery and maternity care challenges in Illinois: www.illinoismidwifery.org.

Show your support!!

Show your support by participating the the Walk for Midwives 2010!  We want to show legislature that we will not just lay down (and birth); but that we want to stand up and walk to support the licensure of Certified Professional Midwives in Illinois!  Illinois families deserve better options.  Ask your representatives to support HB266.
